Hope

I am a dancer in body and heart
I see movement in music and colors fill up my head
I sway to the rhythm and my muscles lift me up into the air
The joy masks the pain in my satin covered feet
I am a dancer in body and heart

She lays in the dark with her heart beating fast
Inside her head a small, evil hand swirls
Fog and darkness join hands and choke her
Her frame shakes and trembles and goes weak
She stopped asking "why" a long time ago
What's the point, her brain won't let her speak
Legs that once spoke beauty give out and fail her

She gazes at satin shoes while opening a pill box sitting on her bed
The music still plays and colors fill her head
Hope soothes the pain while she cries and she prays
I am a dancer in body and heart
I am a dancer in body and heart
