Hope On The Horizon

Farmlands of the Midwest
A prized commodity in
The heartland of country
Unrecognized by change
What is change but
The other side of life
The world within ourselves
Tempered with steel emotion
As the hand of reality
We grasp in defiance
Of the world without and about
On the horizon there is a hope
That can be found like an oasis
In the sands of the desert
Cycles are meant to be broken
Just as certain as circles are round
Learning to live again from the ground up
Can we for now and ever conquer the enemy of fear?
We can, with compassion and care
