Hopeful Spring

Hopeful spring begins to awaken,
Bringing with her new life and all things bright,
Walking the meadows she starts to sing;
and moves the dark clouds out of sight

With her rainbow pot of paint in hand,
She turns the flowers pink, purple, yellow, red;
A sapphire blue for the perpetual sky,
As a blackbird passes overhead

A light breeze blows through the trees of blossom,
Dancing light reflects on the twisty stream;
The fresh smell of rain from a light spring shower,
Which makes the dewy grass sparkle and gleam

Spring smiles to herself, serene, content,
as a butterfly flutters on a daffodil;
The sleepy sun begins to appear,
to melt away winters chill
