House Not Home

This house is huge,
double-storied power
meant to look
and feel like money
unnecessary spacious rooms
to feed a god complex
fueled by fear and
overcompensation and
an overwhelming need to feel
accomplished or to just
feel something

Just don't look too close
or you'll begin to see the
fissures separating drywall from
ceiling or baseboard from
wall or feel the chill to
keep the electric bills down
and the bookshelves filled
with posed pictures of
what a family is
meant to look
and feel like before money is
the only end goal
