How Can I Not?

How Can I not extend a helping hand
Especially when I know it's part of God's command
It saddens my heart to see you falling apart

How can I not extend a helping hand?

You were once a hero-
You served your country with so much pride,
Now they look and cast you to the side.
You once had a sound mind, yet that was another place and time.

How can I not extend a helping hand?

You deserve more than a pat on the back,
As a United States Vet, you should never be hungry
Or made to feel like your under attack.

How can I not extend a helping hand?

You are my dad, my brother;
You have a father, a mother.
You joined the military to be a better man,
You fought for our country to protect our land.

How can I not extend a helping hand?

You are appreciated and never forgotten,
Although you feel like you have been misbegotten,
Please don't loose hope,
Stand strong as you continue to cope.
Even when you feel God is nowhere near
Always keep the faith and always presevere.

How can I not extend a helping hand?
