How Lonely Life Can Be

As time goes by I want to cry
how lonely life can be
with tears in my eyes I wonder why
it's no more fun for me.
Remembering the past how time went so fast
how it used to be
but as he grew I kind of knew
that time was up for me.
The day he left a young man now
I knew he wanted to leave
it was time to go to be more on his own
how lonely life can be.
I pray every night that he's alright
and hope he's thinking of me
but it pops in my mind all the time
when it was just my son and me.
I long for those days that faded away
when he was my little buddy
but time marches on, I have to carry on
how lonely life can be.
