How to Disappear

I watched you disappear one night.
Our feet were in the water
The wind was warm
And the moon was blue.

I don’t know how you did it.
For a while you held my hand
And then you slipped away, like sand
Through the cracks between my fingers
And I was alone again.

I don’t miss you anymore, it's been so long now,
But I’d like to know how you did it
Because all I’ve ever wanted
Was to disappear, too.
