How to Talk to Yourself

Walls constructed to KEEP YOU OUT!
Barbed wire, electric fence,
And a moat full of starving alligators.
Then if by chance you survived,
You are privileged with witnessing
The piercing chill of the fire burning inside

However, it is never that simple.
Since those obstacles failed,
It is time for psychological diversion.
Dirty dealing of two-faced facts,
A guileful mind armed to ruminate questions
Then vomit out dissimulation answers.

If you manage to burrow through,
Leaving indirect nonsense behind.
Ooze your way to the heart.
Approach compassionately as a friend.
For the barricades were resilient
To protect the frail, timid, true you.
