Hug

Today I crave a hug
The way my body craves air
Because I can't breathe

To be wrapped in your warmth
Comforted by your body's touch
Would set the world on course so I can walk steady

More than seeing the sun in the heavens
I want to feel your smile through your embrace
The joy of being so close

If I close my eyes
Breathe the scents of memory
Allow myself to get lost in thoughts of you

And if I lay to my side
Rub my bare legs against the softness of sheets
Sigh into the pillow wrapped in my arms

My mind might allow me to pretend
That these sensations
Can begin to quench the craving

And allow me to breathe
