Human Nature

I used to be a little girl
Playing in the sun,
Not a worry in the world.

When I got older,
Something came over me
As a teenager
Teaching me to be
Selfish and judgmental.

When I had kids of my own,
I was enlightened
And tried to teach them
To respect everyone

As my age got bigger,
They became humble
just as I had.

And their kids became
Critical,
Just as they had.

I've come to know this
As human nature
And we learn as we
Live.
