Humbled in Truth

these bones in an unlikely posture
because i knew all along of your
despicable offer, they say speak
peace to thine enemies upon the
altar
yet i turn my head instead and get
to walking
i stomp, i murmur, i cry, i plead when
will this torment take flight and flee??
can i skip being humbled because id
rather be in response to the thunder
that greeted me
in your hands is a fearful thing but see
i am but a man with its tendencies
exalt me in truth through fire for proof
and keep me in the direction of the journey
to you.
