Hungry

Hunger
She’s hungry for love
As her mind spins
The birds sing out
But she can’t listen
As the noise drowns out
Hopes and aspirations
Hunger
She’s hungry for warmth
For it’s so cold where she lay
Unable to rise
Shackled by the frost
In an impersonal land
Hunger
She’s hungry for anything
So lonely and afraid
She can’t call for help
For the birds
And the piercing ice
Swallow her mind
And soul
Nowhere to go
Nowhere to fall
Hungry
