I Am

i am a neighborhood where crime is inevitable
the sirens blow up loudly everywhere i go
white, blue, red that's all i ever see
including drunk people screaming yippee

i am a broken household where a kid's life is torn apart
the apartment is as quiet as the ghost town loudest part
everywhere i go, people ask is your dad home?
no he ain't, he went to another home

i am a ball being kicked around the world
two sides, 22 players, but a million dreams
blessed to be able to play the game it seems
when other kids can't even live to see

i am Ethiopia, the utopia for millions
the place where my family lives, where i hope to live
even though its crooked government of bribery, corruption, and lies
it is the place where i yearn to be part of until my last few breaths

i am a neighborhood
i am a broken household
i am a ball
i am Ethiopia
i am me
