I Am

I am an artistic monkey lover
I wonder what lies in my future
I hear the blank paper call to me
I see my worn-out pencil
I am an artistic monkey lover

I pretend the picture is in my head
I feel pride when I'm finished
I touch the masterpiece, careful not to smudge
I worry about the color, the shapes, and the lines
I cry when it doesn't work out
I am an artistic monkey lover

I understand it can't be perfect
I see what the drawing depicts, but the real image is in my head
I dream of my art in museums and newspapers
I try to strive for the best
I hope that the world will be a better place with my art
I am an artistic monkey lover

This Poems Story

"I am an artistic monkey lover." That sentence pretty much describes my whole life. Since I was little, I loved monkeys and doodling. When I was assigned to do this poem in class, I thought, "Okay, what are my two utmost favorite things in life?" Monkeys and art!
