I am a rock

When I was a little girl all I wanted to be was a rock
Not a cowboy
Not spider-man or Wonder Woman
Not some hero everyone sees
And knows
Despite the flagrant mask

I wished for unassuming strength
To be the unmovable feature
That no one knew they couldn’t live without

When a rock moves
The world changes
A permanent wrinkle in time

I wanted to sit and wait
Be there for everyone

But know that if I move
It will be felt.
