I Am Afraid

You are the love of my life
Your eyes gleaming, though your voice is filled with strife
I am afraid of you

Loud and clear, your words cut like a knife
I sit still, and listen
Because you are the love of my life

You assume I will always be the good wife
You're trying to control me with your words
I am afraid of you

I am not a lowlife
You assigned me this roll
You're still the love of my life

Your bitterness is spreading like wildlife
I no longer want to do this
I am afraid of you

It's gotten so bad I had to buy a pocketknife
I don't feel safe in my own home
You were the love of my life
I am afraid of you
