I am death
I am death, cold and afraid.
I am death, dark and betrayed.
I have been around before Dawn and
Time; I have met them both. They are slowly
Growing old, slowly. I’ve met many a people.
I take the hands of those who suffer.
I take them away from Pain, who often
Offers them to me for my safe keeping.
I have fallen in love with Life. She sends
Me gifts that I cherish, and try to keep forever,
Though I give some back to my love.
When they think of me, they think of darkness.
When they look at me, they see how I hurt
And take from them, and I make them cry.
The humans don’t see how I am light,
Freedom, and heaven. They don’t see
How they call for me in the night.
I am death, sweet release and light.
I am death, heaven and hell.
