I Am From

I am from roller coasters
I am from steel and wheels
Rolling and twisting and turning
I am from happier times
When dreams could become realities
To sit and ponder
Without interruption
Without judgment

I am from music and blankets
From houses, apartments, sleeping bags
That roll up the night dreams
Into a small simple spiral of goose down

I am from here and there
And nowhere sometimes
With roots that have attached
To dearly beloveds and not-so-hots

In love and lust and
All that is good
All that is humble
Leaps from my inner core
Devil on one shoulder and angel on the other
Always poking, urging beseeching
The direction of me
