I am Naught

Who is perfection?
Who has a pure heart?
Who is most holy?
Not I; I am naught.

Who fights sin and death?
Who is God’s one child?
Who deserves no wrath?
Not I; I am naught.

Who is compassion?
Who is glorious?
Who is redemption?
Not I; I am naught.

Who trusts and believes?
Who is greatest love?
Who heals and forgives?
Not I; I am naught.

Christ is each of these.
I fail; He succeeds.
His own righteousness
He lays upon me.

Now I may join Him
As a child of God.
Without, I am naught;
With Jesus, I am.
