I Am Not As I Was Before

I am not as I was before.
Gone is that gentle heart of old.
You do not know me anymore.

Gone is that brightness you adore,
And all the dreams I used to hold.
I am not as I was before.

The genuine smile my face once wore
Is now cast in plaster mold.
You do not know me anymore.

Hurricanes through my tenets tore.
My spirit lies in shambles, cold.
I am not as I was before.

Thought I'd endure to Heaven's shore,
But beneath worldly gales I fold.
You do not know me anymore.

Though that past girl you would restore,
She is long dead from wounds untold.
I am not as I was before.
You do not know me anymore.
