I am Only Human (Ode to the Cow)

I am only part of a whole.
Long lashes over humid, trusting eyes,
a dream.
Here you are
on my plate
squeezed between my molars.
I’m in heaven.
And you who were,
are not.
Processed into a (relatively) small
(15?) bites.
Each bite cracking a crisp seal.
Your juice
leaks into the corners of my mouth and down my throat.
It’s sexual.
What was your tag number?
Was your slaughter humane?
It’s hard to understand
with your taste in my mouth
that you ever were.
But thank you.
