I Am Only Me

Now tell me what it is you truly want to see...
I wake in the morning to put on my clothes...
To smile in the faces with all my doors closed...
To share what was is not who I am;
but merely the places I dreamt had never been.

Now tell me what it is you truly want to see...
The darkest of dark where my skeletons run free..
A soul that was stricken and left beaten with glee...

Now tell me what it is you truly want to see...
To venture in the night, while the world was so bright..
Cutting down woods while a path was in sight...
Running a mile while the line was at my side...
All the rules I never could abide..

Now tell me what it is you truly want to see...
A kiss is yet a kiss, but not to me...
Yet a rush that serves to be..
To dream of what could be is to paralyze what is free..

Now please, tell me what it is you want to see...
Because I am only me.
