I Can’t Open

behind every door is
another blockade
the next further fortified than the last
I wish I could give you the master key
if only I could get through the messy mass of
thorny vines covering the safe
even then, I don’t know the combination

every time you manage to crack one open,
you are disappointed to see another that I have
safely
shut
to keep everything out.
the endless strings of black
desperately trying to delve into the depths,
to strike me
again and again
where it hurts the most

it is a maze that
I don’t think we will ever get through
and I’m hidden at the end.
