I Come From

I come from misery,
From the tear-stained cheeks
And the smeared makeup,
From the stutter in your breathing
Just before the sobs erupt,
To the numbness in your body
When you're told something disheartening.
I come from content,
From the smile that continues to widen
Even when you try to stop,
To the laugh that brightens up
Even the worst of days.
I come from love,
From the sparkle in your eye,
Each racing heartbeat,
To every star in the sky.
The kiss that leaves you yearning for more.
Finally, I come from every interaction I've had.
From all the names,
To all the memories I've shared.
From every first hello
To
Every
Last
Goodbye.
