I Follow Rivers

I follow rivers
With no destination to adhere
Rivers by mountains of turmoil
And endless valleys of fear

The waters tend to be turbulent
With the persisting worry I will drown
The current picks up its pace
It seems there is only one way down

Is a river a path
Is it the only way to be
For I often squint my eyes
And a destination I fail to see

The force of gravity pulls me forward
A decision out of my hands
But I always choose to follow
Just to find out where I will land

A river is capricious
Impossible to discern
I seldom manage to calculate
Just which way it will turn

If I look closely at the water
I can see coar se salt and wet tears
Hades showed me the Acheron
Perhaps it is true woe never disappears

That is the nature of a river
Struggle is inherent
The moment is to listen and surrender
To a future that is transparent

I follow rivers
To discover the beauty in a flower
And marvel at the gifts the river has shown me
Solemnly, until it has come my hour
