I have two plans for the future, and one of them is living with You

I want to live in the middle
of the ocean on a boat
that rocks back and forth
with the rhythm of the waves.
on our boat there’s a fireplace
and on the mantle is a picture
of us standing on top of the world
and smiling up at the sky.

we’ll engrave our names on a rock
that we’ll toss to the bottom of the sea.
and we’ll say that we left it there
to keep us connected to the Earth,
so we don’t accidentally float off the edge
of the world and end up amongst the stars.

I think that the only problem with
the boat in the middle of the ocean
is that we both want to live in the city
and have a cat, and I don’t think
that either of us really know
how to fish

so I think that I could settle
if I could see the water from our bedroom
and if we were near a really good
bakery, and if you taught me
how to speak French
so I could woo you
with badly conjugated verbs
and a terrible accent.
