I haven’t left my room today.

By

I haven’t left my room today except to feed the birds
They said I’d have a price to pay
And now I heed those words
My neck is fused with metal plates
My back is worn out too
I try my best to do the things
My body lets me do
The pain has crept into my back
My arms my legs my head
At times it feels I am under attack
And banished to my bed
I have some windows in my room
I tend to look that way
I love to smell the flowers bloom
New fragrance every day
Most of all I love the birds
They truly are my friend
They sing a song with eloquent words
I long to comprehend
I never have to sit alone
My friends are here to stay
And when I start to grunt and groan
They love me anyway
Please don’t think I’m lazy
If I say these words
I haven’t left my room today except to feed the birds
