I Heard The Wind Blow

I heard the wind blow when I died
The window they kept closed
It creaked and groaned aloud
Between the heaves of a storm

The tears for me, had long since dried
The hands on me had become firm
For my last breath had been released
It was witnessed too soon.

I willed away my keepsakes,
I signed away my soul
I was no longer myself
No longer something to hold

With blue uncertain pouring rain
The lightning lit the sky
And then the window gave way to nature
And I felt my soul go free
