I Held My Mother

I held my mother
And she shook hollow.
They held her tongue
And she's forgot how to speak.

To be.

You see-
The strong stay strong
For too long
Until they become weak.

And small and empty
And gone;
and gone and gone and gone
and empty
and meek.

I held my mother
And she shook hollow.

But my mother is not me.
