I Hope You Fly

Dear bird, with broken wings,
Greetings from your forlorn sky.
I hum the only song you sung,
Hear it when the wind blows by.

You've flown down low and fairly high,
In freezing cold and blazing heat.
Unflagging efforts you have shown,
In hopes that someday we shall meet.

My answer when some wonder this,
Why love for you do I apprise?
I can't be touched, I have been told,
But you're the only one that tries.

I don't have arms to look through trees,
And gusts of wind have gone in vain.
I had to find some other way,
Please find my love in drops of rain.

So fly up here, your home awaits,
Your absence hurts this helpless sky.
With flapping wings, I hope you come,
To come to me I hope you fly.
