I Hope Your’e Proud of Yourselves

I Hope You’re Proud of Yourselves.
“A Poem to The Government.”

I Hope Proud of Yourselves.
Because of your
Strong Headed beliefs,
You have the
Blood
Of over 1,000 children
Of over 3,000 adults,
Totaling to 4,000 innocent people,
Whose only crime was living in a country where it is OK to buy
Weapons and ammunition
Designed
To
Slaughter
Others in battle,
On your hands.

I Hope You're Proud of Yourselves.
You argue
With
Nothing
But the second amendment.
A note
Written over 200 years ago
Before indoor plumbing
And,
Before
This
In 1988,
Kids drove to school, racks
Opon
Racks
Of weapons in their cars,
With no need for alarm.
Before
This
your lack of action
Has turned
Mass
Shootings,
Mass
Homicides,
Massacres
Into a sport.

I Hope You're Proud of Yourselves.
Thank you.
For making me scared
To walk into school.
Thank you.
For showing me
I can’t go to concerts,
Sporting events,
Crowded places,
Or even leave my home,
For the fear that I will lose my life.
Thank you.
For allowing us all to see the true horrors
Of our species.

I Hope You’re Proud of Yourselves.
“Self Defence”
Ya, right.
Only 2%,
Of weapons in public possession,
Are used in self defence.

“Oh, it’s used for hunting”
Sure.
An AR-15
A weapon designed to tear through bulletproof vests
For hunting.
Anyone can see these claims holds no truth.
your claims are lie upon lie.
And lies don't make for solid ground
The ground Capitol Hill stands on

I Hope you’re Proud of Yourselves.
Now,
I'm not saying
“Ban all guns!”
“No more weapons”
“No more ammo”
All I’m asking
Is for people not to be able to purchase weapons
Made for massacres!
No more magazines for
Rapid
Killing.
Not even law abiding citizens
Should be able to purchase
Weapons
Made
For
Murder

The people have whispered,
Shouted
Screamed, and spoken.
As said by Cameron Kasky
“Politicians, either represent the people or get out. Stand for us or beware.”
I Hope you’re Proud of Yourselves.
Good luck brushing this one under the carpet.

I Hope you’re Proud of Yourselves.
To those on Capitol Hill,
Hiding under the blankets of denial,
Like a child hiding from the dark,
Look out,
Gen Z is coming
And we are going to change the world.
