I Miss You Most

I miss you most . . .
In the morning when I wake
When it's tea, not coffee, that I make
When the newspaper I no longer take.
I miss you most . . .
In the day when I hear our song
When it's my dance partner for whom I long
When everything seems to go all wrong.
I miss you most . . .
In the night, when in the bed I've rolled
When I wake and my feet are cold
When I only have your pillow to hold.
I miss you most . . .
In the quiet of our home when I am alone
When talking to family, to friends on the phone
When I'm in places were known or unknown.
I miss you most . . .
In the week if rain drops dare to fall
When storm clouds are dark and the wind calls
When the sun is bright or snowflakes fall.
I miss you most . . .
On the days when work is what's ahead
When I have somewhere else to be instead
When my day is free and I can lie in bed.
I miss you most.

This Poems Story

I grew up in the Midwest, spending the earlier years of my life in Illinois, then migrating to Wisconsin when my husband accepted a job there. No matter where I lived, I always took my love of writing with me. I began writing when I was still in grade school and found it to be an outlet for the broad spectrum of emotional events we experience. I was thankful for the talent God gave me when my husband passed away suddenly. People often ask me when the worst time without him was, inspiring me to pen this verse.
