I remember fences


I remember Fences
we would climb them, scale them for fun
live perpendicular...

before we learned to be adults

Now we brush our hands upon the links,
fingers shaking like Parkinson's as we walk
now parallel …

As we watch the children climb, and jump
we intersect
and tell them
to grow up and get in line
