I said the Kaddish for my father

One moonlit night in my dreams
I said the Kaddish for my father.
I walked to the middle of the pasture
and said the words.
I said it for the boy he was
and for the father he might have been.
I said it for the words left unspoken
and for the memories never made.
When I was done
the words lifted off the page,
filled with light
and sailed back to Heaven.
My heart lifted
and I felt peace.
