I Salute You

Those who fought and died in the blaze of glory
Defending this place we call home
Many will never know the extent of your sacrifice
But because of you we enjoy freedom
No greater symbol than those insigniated
In the stars and stripes of the red, white, and blue
I salute you
Never to let your courage or character go questioned
For I am and we are here today because of you
A hero not for fame or accolades
But for standing for this nation as many more should do
I salute you
Not just on holidays
But each and every day we live free from condemnation
Of unjust laws or religious oppressions
And the liberty to pursue anything we deem could bring us happiness
For those who stand and those who have fallen and lay at rest
I salute you
