I See, I Hear

I hear goodbyes, but never see hellos
I hear laughter, but I also see sorrow
I hear a boom, but I see smoke
I hear footsteps, but I never see their owner
I hear nothing, but I see letters
I hear promises, but I don't see any
I hear good changes, but I don't see any
I hear bad changes, and I see everything
I hear nothing, but I see everything
I hear everything, but I see nothing

It's funny
How both aren't the same
Like Peanut butter and jelly
They complement what the others don't have
Like the sweetness of hearing
Or the sourness of seeing

I am glad I don't see the same things as I hear
Because then the world wouldn't be so clear

Because I hear everything
I see nothing

Because I see everything
I hear nothing
