I Shall Never Wake

I shall never wake,
For my heart so ponderous
It might perhaps break
Afar, I travel the land
Through the rain, heat, and snow
What for… I shall never know

Let my anguished eyes find rest
Like the sea-girt sparrows in their nest
Yet I will fly above the stars
Mayhap even fly to Mars
Fly above the trees...I was born to sight and see

My heart is shattered
Strewn across the world
In pieces
My lost love
I will never find….For flight is on my mind

When he comes for me
I shan’t betake myself
For I belong in the skies
With my eyes shut tight
I shall never wake
But be in the clouds
I shall never wake
Like coruscate initials drawn on a fogged window
I shall vanish eventually
Drift abroad into an indifferent wind
And you shall forget me

I shall never wake.
