I Sit Here and Wait

I sit here and wait,
Like a dog does through the seasons.
I sit here dying inside more and more these days,
wishing you would hear me,
wishing that you would see me.

Do you not hear my voice shaking?
Do you not hear my heart breaking?
Do you not see what you have done to me?
You have broken me inside, and out.

I sit here and wait,
Hoping you will help me through this.
To tell me I am worth it to you.
Not to tell me I am a coward for hurting.
Not to tell me that I am foolish for wanting love.

No. Don't hurt me.
I beg you day in and day out.

I sit here and wait,
Waiting until I self destruct.
