I Sought Over Yonder
I sought over yonder where thou lay't
Under piercing diamonds of Heaven's gate,
Where thy's eyes stood gazing with love's taste,
And the touch of desire stood in haste.
All the angels fell from grace,
In looking upon such a prepossessing face.
Like a budding arbutus covered in lace,
Is my love for thee that conquers time and space.
While I silently lay with heart's a daze,
My mind grudgingly awaits in a haze--
If only thee could finally praise,
Thy's love to a foolish love-craze!
