I Survive

They always assume,
“These Gen Zs, heads in their phones,
trapped behind Hopes and Dreams, with no chance
of becoming Reality.”
but they don’t realize...
I survive in a world post 9/11
Where every woman in a Hijab
is treated like a Criminal.
I survive in a world where the First black President
was told to show his birth certificate.
A world where to do right
Goes against Tradition.
And being Respected,
Comes with Terms and Conditions.
I survive in a world,
where everyone’s opinion counts, but none are heard.
And sure, they survive in this world too
but they remember a time
before the Darkness grew.
And if they had to be raised here…
They would want a Different World
Just as we do.
