I Take You to the River

l Take You to the River
(poetry, kelee317.a25)

I take you to the river to meet our kin
In the morning sun of our fused breath
Where nothing affects what death has left
Of memories that our lives have cherished.

I face the horizon kissing inside my mind
Where our goodbyes make time to find
When we abused our luxury of youth
That vanished from us one stormy night.

I take you to the river to hear the sound
Of our hearts pound against its mighty roar
As the brine bathes our song on its shore.
We surprise ourselves when fairies come.

I cheer the stars above our solemn twilight.
They too have come to aid our next flight.
If you get there before we meet as friends
Our heaven today will make our love again.
