I understand why man worshipped fire

The lonely man
Starts a fire
Late at night
To gaze at stars

He struggles at first
The wood is wet
And the paper dry

The wolves howl into the night
He is unperturbed
Continues into his fight
To bring the dawn into the night

He is persistent
Patient with the wood
Guiding it to light
Giving it life

Its life is weak
It must be fed
He feeds his child
Burning it bright

He is at peace
Free at the night
