I Walk Alone Looking For A Sign

I awake each day with doubt and fear.
All I want is to know that you are near.
Thoughts escape my mind twisted in doubt;
I try to hold them at bay I try not to pout.
Beseeching you appreciate the gift I give, the gift of a my heart;
Appreciate the faith and loyalty I have carried from the start.

I will pretend to be ignorant and cherish the embrace.
Awareness only proclaims my insanity and slams the door in my face;
So I walk alone and smile though dying within.
I hold my head up and my emotions in.
For any glimmer of a tear any uncertainty expressed,
Will only bring pain, a pain deep in my chest.

There once was a time not so long ago
When I knew you were mine and these feelings would grow.
Fear of love chased you away;
Fear and love gave me reason to pray.
I will dream of a time when you were truly mine,
And hope when I awake to see a sign.

But for now I walk alone and smile though dying within.
I hold my head up and my emotions in.
For any glimmer of a tear any uncertainty expressed;
Will only bring pain, a pain deep in my chest.
