I Walked into the Forest
Eyes like the forest and love like the sky,
I wish that he had not had bid me good-bye.
I love him for everything, top and to toe,
I wish he knew sooner, this truth he should know.
I miss him like birds that have longed for the spring,
His love and his kiss, the most wonderful thing.
But he loves me not and this I can't accept,
The nights I have missed him, the nights I have wept.
I ask for you now, though you know nothing more,
I promise to give you what you have longed for.
The peace and the love and the silence I'll keep,
Silent as death, the past things shall sleep.
So now I shall tell you, this mountain I climb,
I cannot climb over, no matter the time.
I'll love you forever, these words you now hate,
Around me I once built a high sturdy gate.
It wasn't to keep anyone close to me out,
But to see who'd climb over and remove my doubt.
And you had climbed over and looked in my eyes,
Those eyes of the forest with love like the skies.
