I Want to Know
I want to know how I will feel when I first hold your hand,
To finally talk to someone that we both completely understand.
I want to know how your eyes light up when you see my face,
To feel our hearts beat in unison whenever we embrace.
I want to know the sound of your laughter when I say funny things,
To have you dance outside with me as our bodies are drenched in the pouring rain.
I want to know the taste of your lips as they press firmly against mine,
To feel your body as you hold me, tight, our arms entwined.
I want to know your voice, as you whisper my name, and I yours, without refrain,
Then share laughter as we drink champagne,
To lie with you on a blanket under the light of a million stars.
I want to know how you sing as we turn up the radio in your car,
To fly with you to destinations, as yet, unknown.
I want to know how it feels to miss you whenever I find myself alone,
To share our lives and dreams, with all its joy and sorrows, without bane!
I want to know how it feels when it is true love, souls destined from a higher plane,
To lie in bed with you all day simply because you asked me to stay.
I want to know real love that exists forever and always.

This Poems Story
Raised in the South by a family of great storytellers, I learned to appreciate the spoken and written word and rhythm of words at an early age. Later, as a young adult, my journalism and English teacher encouraged me to write, and poetry was, and still is, my favorite form of written expression. This poem was inspired by a friend who helped me to believe that true love is possible. My poem is dedicated to true love, epic love, and to all those who seek it or find it. May these words inspire!
