I Was the Moon

I was the moon,
In a starry night sky.
A drop of gold,
Illuminating the dark.

My bright light
Captured every eye.
To my shine
They were attached.

But I was the moon,
And the moon has no light.
A ball of darkness,
Blocking the sun.

In the way of the real light,
Feeding off of its shine.
Deceiving the eyes of many.
To say the moon
Lights up the night sky is
Only a fake picture.

I, the moon
Only a paper in front of the light.
With no real light in it,
Just a cover,
I was the moon.
