I Will Always Love You

I’ve been here with you through it all
I was there when the doctors first diagnosed you
I was there when they told you it spread
I was there when they told you had three months
I am here just one week later, sitting beside your bed.
I am watching you suffer through the pain,
I am watching you put on a brave face for pretend.
I am denying your wishes to let you go,
I am selfish for telling you “no” when you always say yes.
I am crying because you are in pain
I need your pain to end forever
I change my mind, I can’t watch this anymore,
I will be there, to back your choice, and
I will forever support your decision,
I will be there when they give you that dose.
I will cry endlessly, but
I will always love you mom.
