I Will Be Me

Tense shoulders and quiet nights
Silent tears and constant fights
Angry words and sad eyes
Less prayers and more lies

Sad days shift
Into miserable weeks.
My future shines bright,
Although the present is meek.
I hate this life

I can't wait to leave
I want to get out
So I can achieve

I don't want the mentors
I'm forced to see
I'm scared of the person
I'm bound to be.

I will be me!
Not the people I see
Not the things in my dreams
Not the things that haunt me.

I will be me!
In the shame of family
In the rocking ship
In my angry red sea.
