I Will Go On

Give me another tomorrow
I promise I'll be better
Though I'm drowning in a night of sorrow
As I read this heart felt letter

Hang me on the gallows
A memory chokes my life
Your love felt deep but was shallow
Now the hurt is rife

Give me more to believe in
For my heart rejects all your words
Feeble, my longing fades, grows thin
Might I toss you and yours to the birds?

Oh how I scorn you and your lies
Without you I could never breathe
Alone, the soul I once owned dies
Darkness! I cannot see

I will go on, I need to, I must!
To show you that I do not need your love
Some day I'll find someone else to trust
Maybe for him I will be enough
