I Will Say It Back
I hear your words between the feathers of an eagle
So far away from me,
Yet, still so defined.
Life passes me by
As I long for the good times to be had
Or the times that could never be.
They exist only in my dreams.
What is the cure for
The void between my skin and yours?
I look at the clock--
Time doesn't seem to have an answer yet.
I know you got scared
When I mirrored to you
The parts you hide in the shades of summer
And away from the world.
You thought I didn't love them.
I pretended not to.
It was easier to walk away like that.
If you see me sitting in the park,
Under the banyan tree
Blissfully watching kids play,
Please do say hello.
I will say it back.
